Conveniently located between Chicago and Milwaukee, Kenosha is an idyllic, welcoming community. From lazy and laid back, to lively and vibrant, this scenic spot on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan offers something for every taste and interest. Pursuits and pastimes are as varied as the changing seasons.
Kenosha celebrates its lakefront in both the everyday and the extraordinary. Here you can enjoy entertaining concerts under the stars and frequent festivities held at the outdoor Sesquicentennial Bandshell and at Celebration Park. From casual picnics in the park, to the Star Spangled Spectacular held each 4th of July, there’s a grassy spot overlooking Lake Michigan just waiting for your blanket.
In summers and early autumns, harvests are brought to the Farmers’ Market held every weekend at Place de Douai plaza, right in the heart of HarborPlace. Art fairs and craft shows are equally popular throughout the year.
Naturally, recreational opportunities abound in this lakefront city. Drop your fishing line, or stroll or bike on the 10.2-mile Pike Bike trail.
The scenic path runs along Lake Michigan, past several points of interest including three National Register Historic Districts, two historic lighthouses, the Poerio Nature Center, and more.
For added historical perspective, take in the Kenosha Public Museum, which houses both natural history artifacts as well as works of fine art. Three additional museums are currently in the city’s planning sights.
Kenosha’s electric streetcars also lend historic charm to the area. Five beautifully restored streetcars provide scenic tours of the Lake Michigan shoreline. For only 25 cents, the two-mile loop connects passengers to the Civic Center Historic District, downtown business district, Southport Marina, Veterans Memorial Park, and the METRA train station.
Landlubbers and sailors alike delight in the surroundings of Southport Marina, one of Lake Michigan’s hottest boating destinations. It boasts over 300 full-service slips, along with a boater community center.
Kenosha. The perfect place to relax, to explore, to live.
